There is sure to be a packed VuGraph theatre today as the quarterfinals draw to a close. It is hard to remember a Championship where so many matches have been in the balance at this stage.
Orbis Bermuda Bowl Brazil appeared to have done a demolition job on Sweden, but the Scandinavians fought back hard. However, they still have a mountain to climb. Norway is a favourite to beat Indonesia, but the other two matches are too close to call. Do you remember our prediction about the score required to ensure qualification? Suffice it to say that the Captain of the French Open team, who scored 12VP more than the figure suggested, is trying to find Jean-Paul Meyer!
Orbis Venice Cup Denmark is continuing to put up a fantastic performance
considering the problems they have had. As many of you will already know,
Charlotte Koch-Palmund has had to go home to Denmark - her husband Dennis
flew to Bermuda for just one hour to accompany her home on the plane.
Mette Drøgemüller has been confined to bed for the last couple of days
with a bad attack of flu, so the Danes have had to play four handed, and
out of partnership. We are not taking bets on the outcome of the other
three matches! |
