Grand Bidding

If Argentina had made a better start to the tournament they would have been challenging for a place in the semi-finals as their form improved dramatically towards the end. They put on an excellent display against Thailand on VuGraph.

South's choice of opening bid, 1NT with a 2-2-5-4 was endorsed by Gabriel Chagas as the doubleton major suit queens are a potential asset in that denomination if South is declarer.
West attempted to put his opponents off with a couple of doubles but North was not to be denied. +1510 and 11 IMPs that helped Argentina to a an excellent 24-6VP victory over the high flying team from Thailand.
