| USA2 put the previous
day’s heartbreaking loss behind them to dominate the
third/fourth play-off match. The Americans defeated Poland
by IMPs to take the bronze medal. Meanwhile, Denmark
won the fourth session of the final by 52-35 IMPs to keep
the match very much alive. Italy lead by
178.67-129 IMPs with 32 boards to play but, after almost losing
a 60 IMP lead in the last 16 deals of the semi-final, the
Italians will be looking for a strong start on the final day
to steady their nerves.
