It's decision day in the Power Rosenblum as the qualifying stage comes to an end. No team is mathematically safe but Nickell on 136 and Chagas on 135 are both 26 ahead of the second placed teams in their respective groups.

In the McConnell Cup Baker's American squad and Terraneo's Austrians top their groups with 104.

WBF Elections

At their first meeting in Montreal on Monday, 19th August 2002, the Executive Council held elections for the positions of President and Officers of the World Bridge Federation.

José Damiani was re-elected President by acclamation.

Following the resignation of George Retek, Jean-Louis Derivery was appointed as Treasurer and Dan Morse was appointed Honorary Secretary.

The Executive also approved the appointment of Mr. John Wignall as 1st Vice-President with Mrs Joan Gerard and Messrs. Patrick Choy, Panos Gerontopoulos, Ernesto d'Orsi, Mazhar Jafri, Jens Auken and George Retek as Vice Presidents.
