Yalcin has best record


The team captained by Yalcin of Switzerland scored 115 Victory Points out of a possible 125 in the five round-robin matches played yesterday in the Vivendi Rosenblum Teams. They lead the Walt Walvick team from the United States by 14 VPs in Group A. The Walvick team finished second in the Bermuda Bowl last year.

In Group B, Anton Maas of the Netherlands has 91, two better than Poddar of Indonesia. The Swedish team captained by Nilsson has 107 points atop Group C. Hoogenkamp of the Netherlands is second with 103.

Zakrzewski of Poland, with 101, has an 11-point lead over Covo of France in Group D. The strong Brazilian team captained by Gabriel Chagas collected 110 VPs out of a possible 125, 13 points ahead of Marino of Italy in Group E. Berry Westra of the Netherlands has 101 in Group F, followed by Joffe of South Africa with 96.

Erhart has best record in McConnell Teams

The team captained by Maria Erhart of Austria compiled the best record in the Louis Vuitton McConnell Teams during yesterday's round-robin matches. She and her teammates scored 90 out of a possible 100 Victory Points. Her team is leading Group Z, 10 points ahead of Sue Picus of the United States. The Liu team from China is third with 78.

In Group Y, Liz McGowan of Great Britain is out front with 82 VPs, eight better than non-playing Captain Ed Francken of the Netherlands. Gail Greenberg of the United States and Zur Albu of Israel are tied for third with 71.

Jo Morse of the United States earned 80 points to take the lead in Group X. Veronique Bessis of France is second with 75, followed by Nadine Wood of the United States. In Group W, the Italian team captained by Modica is out front with 78 VPs. In second place is de Laville Mont of France with 72, followed by Vandoni of Italy with 67.

Italians leading in Junior Teams

Italian teams are running 1-2 in the Junior Teams competition. The Intonti squad is atop the standings with 107 points, five ahead of the team captained by Guariglia. Next is Madsen of Denmark with 96, followed by Verbeek of Germany with 87. Two Polish teams, Skalski and Jagniewski, are tied for fifth with 85.

The top non-European team is the squad captained by Joel Wooldridge of the United States. His team, with 83 points, is tied for seventh with the Louveaux team from Belgium. Rounding out the top 10 are Zwerver of the Netherlands with 82 and Bjaarnarson of Denmark with 81. Twenty-nine teams are competing in the event.
