Future Seniors Bridge Activities

The following decisions have been made in Lausanne regarding future Senior Bridge activities:


A. Bermuda, January 2000

  1. We will definitely be playing an exhibition Seniors Tournament in Bermuda with a field of six teams
  2. This tournament will start on Saturday 08 January at 17.20 and consist of ten qualification rounds of 20 boards each played twice a day
  3. The Seniors will play in the same venue and with the same boards as those played in the Open and Ladies Series
  4. The Final stage (with carry over) will start on Thursday 13 January, with 60 boards (3 sessions) between the first and second teams for Gold and Silver and there will be a 40 board match between the 3rd & 4th teams for the Bronze medal. The 3rd and last round of the Finals will be on Friday 14 January at 14.00 - 16.50 hours
  5. The participating Seniors Teams will be as follows:
    ACBL Team (San Antonio winners 07/99)
    France European Championships (Malta 06/99)
    Reigning World Champions from Lille (09/98)
    Australia - Zone 7 Team (South Pacific)
    Two teams from Zone 6 (Pacific Asia).
    S. Africa, Zone 4, may replace one of the teams of Zone 6
  6. The WBF President decided to waive the entry (registration) fee for the Seniors Teams Exhibition Tournament in Bermuda


B. Transnational Open Teams - Bermuda

This event will start on the evening of 16 January and finish on Friday afternoon, 21 January. Senior teams are encouraged to participate in the one field (Swiss Teams) event.

The highest ranking Senior team in the event will be awarded recognition prizes. Entry (registration) fee for all teams in the World Transnational Open Teams is $600.


C. The Maastricht Bridge Teams Olympiad
August 26 - September 09 2000

We are pleased to announce that the WBF has decided to hold an Olympiad for Senior Teams in Maastricht. NBOs will be invited to register one Senior Team; no Multi-National teams will be accepted.


D. The EBL Seniors Committee will encourage NBOs to organise international Senior Teams in partnership with the EBL Seniors Committee.

Three such Seniors Tournaments are scheduled to take place on 2000:

Tel Aviv Israel February 13 - 17
Zakopane, Poland April 26 - 30
Brighton, England August 14 - 18
